Waterfront Development
La Habana, Cuba
The redesign for the waterfront of La Habana, Cuba, aims to find solutions to some of the major environmental and social issues within the area. The lack of green spaces and social housing conditions shaped the idea for the design. Thus, creating a masterplan that takes into consideration the aspects of what the area needs to enhance and improve the living conditions. The idea behind the design is to create new piers on the waterfront that will reconnect to the city, allowing a stronger flow between the existing land and the edge of the water. The pattern of creating the piers will play a huge role in creating a future prototype for Havana. The main focus for such a proposal is to connect a low cost modern waterfront city to the historic city. Furthermore, embracing the Cuban culture through design and art.
